Pastor Jason Lathers

Jason came to faith in Jesus Christ at the age of ten. He would tell you that he never expected to be a pastor when he was growing up, but God had other plans. Studying at Purdue University he joined the Navigators campus ministry where he met his wife, Amy. In the Navigators he realized the importance of God’s Word and fellowship with other believers. While at Purdue he also got involved with the National Guard and Reserve Officer Training Corps. Through his experience in the military he and Amy felt God was calling him specifically to become a chaplain. In pursuit of the chaplaincy (with much help from his wife) he has commissioned as an officer in the Army Reserve, and obtained a Master of Divinity degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. While in seminary not only did they feel the call to the chaplaincy, but they also felt God calling him to serve as a pastor in a local church. Through an exciting course of events (orchestrated only by God) he and Amy joined First Baptist Church of Westfield in May 2011.

Jason likes to do woodworking and Amy likes to sew and other crafts. Together they enjoy reading, watching movies, going to the zoo, backpacking and drinking coffee. Jason and Amy have three young sons who keep them very busy.
